The University of Kent (formerly University of Canterbury-Kent, abbreviated UKC) is a public, quasi-university research university headquartered in Kent, England. The college received royal charter on 4 January 1965, and the following year Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent officially took office as its first president.

The university has its main campus on 300 acres (120 hectares) of parkland in north Canterbury and is home to more than 6,000 students. As well as the Medway and Tonbridge campuses in Kent and the European Postgraduate Centers in Brussels, Athens, Rome and Paris. The university is international, with students representing 158 nationalities and 41% of teaching and research staff coming from outside the UK. It is a member of the Santander Network of European Universities, which promotes social and economic development.
